My name is Niamh Barry. I am a secondary school teacher at Portumna Community School in County Galway. I teach Junior Science, Senior Biology and Physical Education.
I have a BSc degree from DCU and an MEd degree in active learning and learning space design from UCD. I am currently researching student engagement, voice, pedagogical approaches and the physical learning space in pursuit of a PhD in Education from the University of Limerick.
I am passionate about active learning and the impact of the physical learning space on teaching and learning. I am writing this blog as a self-reflective professional learning diary as I interpret the new JC Science specification.
I am interested in sharing my experiences and engaging in professional dialogue with other teachers, to facilitate this there is a comment section at the end of each blog post.
